Gambling with Your Home

Kansas State

Kansas home equity loans can be an excellent source of financing when you need money for home improvements, education costs, or other expenditures. At the same time, borrowing from your equity can also be a little dangerous. Home equity loans are secured debt. If you find yourself in trouble financially and miss a few payments, you could lose your home.

Borrowing Too Much

When getting a Kansas home equity loan, it can be very difficult to determine how much you should borrow. If you borrow too much, you run the risk of burning through all of your equity. You may also find that making the monthly loan payment can be difficult. On the other hand, if you borrow too little, you’re stuck, because you won’t be able to get more money out of the loan without refinancing.

PMI Premiums

Nowadays, it is very common for lenders to require that a borrower carry private mortgage insurance (PMI). This is especially true if you have less than 20 percent equity built up in your home. PMI premiums can add anywhere from to 0 to your mortgage payment each month. The only way that you can avoid paying PMI is too make sure that your loans- both your current mortgage and your home equity loan- don’t add up to more than 80 percent of the value of your home.

Kansas State Undefeated But Underdogs to Oklahoma

After losing in painstaking fashion against Texas Tech at home, the Oklahoma Sooners must find a way to bounce back this week. The Sooners seem to have Kansas State’s number, as they have a four-game winning streak in this series, including a 42-30 win in their last meeting in 2009.

Oklahoma Sooners

Kansas State

The Sooners must feel bad about last week’s performance, as they suffered a rare loss in Memorial Stadium against Texas Tech. Oklahoma, with an overall record of 6-1 and a 3-1 record in the Big 12, had their 39-game home winning streak snapped against the Red Raiders. They trailed 31-7 in the third quarter, but rallied late, only to come up short in a 41-38 defeat.

Kansas State Undefeated But Underdogs to Oklahoma

Due in large part to their defensive deficiencies against Texas Tech, the Sooners are now rank just 41st in the entire country in total defense, allowing 353.6 yards per game.

They still rank among the elites in all the offensive categories, however. They are fourth in total offense with 545.6 yards per game and seventh in scoring offense with 44.3 points per game.

Junior quarterback Landry Jones is completing 65.6 percent of his passes for 2,589 yards and 21 touchdowns with seven interceptions.

Wide receiver Ryan Broyles has 67 grabs for 899 yards and nine scores, while running back Dominique Whaley has 627 yards on 5.5 per carry and nine touchdowns to lead the team in rushing.

Kansas State

Kansas State is on a tear this season and has shocked nearly everyone by starting with a perfect 7-0 record (4-0 Big 12). They really have a chance to do something special this year if they can continue this winning streak.

First, they have to knock off the Sooners in Bill Snyder Stadium this Saturday. Kansas State coach Bill Snyder continues to work miracles with this program, and it looks to continue this year.

Quarterback Collin Klein played great in their win against the Jayhawks last week, throwing for 195 yards and rushing for 92 more yards while accounting for five total touchdowns.

Kansas State out-gained the Jayhawks 466-286 behind a dominant defensive effort. The 72-year-old Snyder has the Wildcats off to their best start since 1999, when they won their first nine games.

They haven’t played a very easy schedule, either. Kansas State has impressive road wins over Miami and Texas Tech, while also beating Baylor and Missouri at home.

The Wildcats have been winning behind a great defense and a solid running game. Although they rank only 86th in the country in total offense with 354.8 yards per game, they are 18th in rushing with 213.9 yards per game.

Kansas State is 30th in total defense, allowing 337.2 yards per game. Since committing five turnovers in their season-opening win over Eastern Kentucky, the Wildcats have only given the ball away two times in their last six games. K-State is now plus-eight in turnovers on the season.

The team is led by offensively by Klein, who has thrown for 934 yards and eight touchdowns to three interceptions, while also rushing for a team-high 670 yards and 14 touchdowns.
